Mixed Berry Crisp
Need an easy weekday treat or a dish to bring to your next barbecue or picnic? Look no further than this easy delicious mixed berry crisp! The thing I love most about a crisp is that it’s so simple and takes barely any time to make. Similar to a cobbler a crisp is full of yummy fruit with a sweet doughy topping, but just as the name would suggest, it’s, well, crispy. A great thing about crisps is that you can adjust them based on what fresh fruit is in season or you can use any number of frozen fruits as well (or a combination of both). It’s made with a combination of granulated sugar and brown sugar that gives it a wonderful depth in flavor. The oats on top manage to be rich and light at the same time and I like to pretend that because it’s full of fruit and oats it can also be a mouthwatering breakfast!
In this mixed berry crisp I used a bag of frozen 4 berry blend with strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, and cherries. Yum! You can use any variation of berries you want! I make sure to coat the berries in flour, sugar, and lemon juice which helps to create a rich syrup while it bakes that sets into the perfect dessert. Then I add a thick layer of the oat topping and bake it until it’s nice and golden brown on top. Serve this mixed berry crisp with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on top and a cold glass of iced tea and enjoy!

Berries- Seasonally, fresh berries are great to use in this mixed berry crisp recipe, but frozen berries work just as well!
Topping- I like to add a liberal amount of topping to this crisp so don’t leave any of it in the bowl! Trust me you won’t regret it.
Baking- Make sure the topping is nice and golden before taking it out. You don’t want a soggy crisp!
Storing- This is the perfect dessert to eat warm! But it is also fantastic to eat cold just like how leftovers can sometimes be better the next day!
